My senior thesis was inspired by images of dead and dying flowers. Beauty can be found not only in plant life that is growing and blossoming, but also in that which is dying and decaying. I explored this idea when choosing the garment silhouette, materials, colors, and through the entire process of creation.
The garments were draped onto dress forms, hand sewn, then hand dyed and painted. By allowing the dyeing process to alter the piece after it was already sewn together, each piece drastically evolved in shape and structure.
